Bored and looking to sharpen some of your acting skills from home? Youtheatre's E-cademy invites you to join instructor Christopher J. Murphy for a series of online workshops learning and practicing dialects/accents commonly used by American actors. Using the online platform Zoom, each 40-50 minute workshop will be limited to 10 students so that everyone has an opportunity to learn, try, get feedback and grow in a supportive and fun environment.
Cockney English is the accent or dialect of English traditionally spoken by working-class Londoners. It is widely used in plays and musicals like "My Fair Lady," "Mary Poppins" and "Sweeney Todd."
Murphy got his first stage role at age 10 because he was the only kid in 5th grade who could do a German accent! As a character actor, he's spent his life studying a host of dialects and looks forward to sharing with you!
Zoom meeting info and PDF worksheets (which can be printed out or viewed on your laptop or mobile device during class) will be emailed to all enrolled students 24 hours prior.
